God is our good, good Father. And I don't just say that because church tells us so. Think about it. If God was our mother, how would life be?
Moms are very nurturing and loving by nature. They coddle, they support; they are always there to help. In fact, they want to help so much that they end up doing it themselves. Now, I'm not saying that moms are bad. I am one, so I can relate.
If God was our mother, life would be boring. We would have no challenges. We would have no struggles. Sure, that may sound like a good thing. But would we learn lessons? We would always be protected by our mom.
So now am I implying that God is our big, mean, bully dad? No, of course not. But let's face it, dads are tougher than moms. They let you fall down to learn from your mistakes, whereas moms always want to catch you and prevent you from being hurt. How can you learn that the flame burns you if you never feel the pain? You know not to touch it because, trust me, I know you tried it all ready and it wasn't a very comfortable feeling - was it?
If you are a parent, you look at your children and you just want what's best for them. You want to help make them grow into the greatest little humans possible. And that is exactly what God wants from us. God will help us every step of the way through life. All we have to do is listen. Right, kids?
